LOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From Kurt…
LOST Returns! -
Seriously…tonight, from 7-10…it’s a national holiday. We’re going to cook up some chicken/mozzarella ravioli (don’t get too impressed…we bought it at Costco…but I will boil the water), and then the greatest show in the history of TV returns in triumphant fashion.
It’s been what 6+ months? Maybe even more. Thankfully, they’ll have that recap show from 7-8 tonight. I need a little refresher. How will this season unfold? I can’t wait. Seriously, I almost called in sick today…I have Lost Fever.
This video of Lost show just how meticulous the writing has been throughout the seasons…it’s the plane crash time synched with everything else that was happening.
Things that I’m looking forward to/or not forward to in Lost this season -
1 - How it ends (obviously)
2 - Who is the Man in Black? What’s up with Jacob?
3 - The back story of Richard Alpert. He had to arrive on the Black Rock right? Why doesn’t he age?
4 - The return of Claire. She’ll play a big role I’m sure…but I’m still bitter at her for not showing the proper amount of grief when Charlie drowned. (I mean, I cried for crying out loud…Claire could have shown a little bit more emotion than “Bye Charlie”.
5 - Where are we in time?
6 - Is Juliet dead? But if she’s dead, how does she have a book club 20 years later? I guess in the words of Miles, you just have to go with it.
7 - The relationship between Miles & Hurley is AWESOME. They are the new Abbott & Costello.
8 - Dr. Chang…I must know more about you….and Desmond, where are you? (and where can I buy your sunglasses?)
9 - The death of Kate. I hope this happens…and here’s why. This show is AWESOME…yet every morning….EVERY morning, the next day on Eonline.com, they review the show, and the first comments are always “I hope Kate and Jack end up together” or “Sawyer and Kate have to be together forever”. Seriously? Who cares who Kate ends up with? It doesn’t matter…I say this kiddingly, but why must you women always ruin a good show? It always has to have a love story for you ladies, doesn’t it? Ugh, ha ha. Skate/Suliet…worst couple nickname ever by the way.
10 - And my favorite….I can’t wait for me to be right…and for Ken to be wrong….John Locke is an idiot. I must continue to believe this. He’s done nothing right. He couldn’t even hang himself correctly…and now he’s killed Jacob, well done. Okay, maybe he didn’t kill Jacob…but Locke is laying facedown on a sandy beach right now, well done. By the way, if you don’t watch Lost, none of that made sense right there.
My friend Eric at bowling last night said “Lost is dumb”. No, Eric, you are dumb. Yeah, take that. Hanh!
For Losties out there…if you haven’t heard it yet, you should check out an excellent podcast on Lost on Itunes (it’s free)…it’s called “Jay & Jack’s Lost Podcast”. It’s really good, and they dissect the entire show. I think they update it the morning after each show, and then later in the week, previewing the next week. It’s really good, and it’s a must-listen for me.
A “NOT REAL” Spoiler Alert - Tomorrow’s Blog will feature much Lost conversation as well.
Random Workout -
I must start working out again…I’m adding sympathy weight at an alarming rate (but it’s so delicious). To begin working out again, I needed to create the perfect, random playlist…and I even came up with a very creative name for this playlist…it’s called “Random Workout” (I know, that hurt my brain too!)

See, very random….and the problem is that I will probably listen to the fantasy baseball podcast while working out anyways. D’oh.
Groundhog’s Day -
We should get today off…this is a fantastic holiday. It makes no sense…and I love that about today. We’re watching a rodent predict the weather! It’s kind of like watching Bryan Karrick, ohhhhhhhhhhhhh snap! (I’m just kidding Bryan, I feel our friendship allows me to make that joke). No matter what the rodent predicts…the vernal equinox falls on the same day.

Screw Pennsylvania…it’s time Iowa got our own groundhog….a BIGGER groundhog, a BETTER groundhog. Are squirrels are already horribly obese…I’m sure the groundhogs here are absolutely monstrous.
What? Phil saw his shadow? Booooooooooo. Away with you Punxatawney Phil…bring on Iowa Irving!
Note to Susan Boyle -
Stephen Colbert said that while Justin Timberlake “brought sexy back”, Susan Boyle “sent it away”. I think Susan Boyle should remake “Sexy Back”…it’d be fantastic.
I Answer Questions/Comments -
From Jenny - “Oh yeah, and is there a reason you think Beyonce lip synced?” - ANSWER - I can not prove it…but I really think it was. She’s been known to lip-synch at many other awards shows too. We asked Billy Bush one time about it, and he said, “yeah, but she’s Beyonce, she can do anything”. I think it was on the Today Show one time too, when she was singing, but her lips weren’t moving.
From Michele - “I’m betting BRETT is vetoed also!” - ANSWER: This was in response to banned names for our child. Absolutely, Brett is banned.
From Nathan - “Pink performed her concert in Omaha with the ribbon acrobatics when she opened for Justin Timberlake. She is an amazing performer and a wonderful vocalist, amazing breathing control to sing like that.” - ANSWER: Hey Nathan, I was at the same show! It was a great show (NOTE: the tickets were a gift for Jennifer)
From Nathan - “Marilyn Manson? Really? Honestly? Who throws a shoe? No comparison. I can see the messed up black makeup as that but that was the typical Gaga (She doesn’t like to be referred to as ‘Lady Gaga’ she just prefers ‘Gaga’) dramatic performance. There was a story, and that was her expression. I LOVED the duet (thanks Jenny!). I’ve watched it at least half a dozen times. She is an amazing performer, artist, vocalist, and person, yes she is strange, but so was Madonna and Michael. I’m off the Gaga horse.” - ANSWER: Now, this is the reply I expected! I will add one note though…Lady Gaga’s fashion sense is considered “brilliant”…yet, when Bjork wore a swan dress, she was mocked…I respect Gaga much more than Bjork…but it’s nearly the same concept (fashion-wise).
From Michele - “Black eyed peas, my son loves them and my husband just kept saying “oh Fergie” with a child like grin smeared across his face” ANSWER - This made me laugh! Oh Fergie, ha ha.
AWESOME is as AWESOME does!

I’m having Casey’s Breakfast Pizza right now… Jealous? HAHA
It’s funny you mentioned the Swan on Bjork, we had that same conversation at work yesterday. I guess Gaga just has talent… LOL. I’m actually predicting she will dissappear at some point and come back after a year in hiding completely normal. Jake did NOT like that theory.
Workout playlist. I have one as well… it has 1665 songs in it though so I’m not going to attempt a list, but I do the same thing, half the time I end up listening to one of my podcasts. One of the ones I listen to is a comedy one, and laughing unexpectedly while doing a bench-press is not an easy (or safe) thing to do! I really should rethink this but I’ve been doing it for a few years and have survived. Props on the good variety in your playlist though!
Susan Boyle… Sexy Back… That would be a great video, or diet plan.
Groundhogs day is dumb. Winter go away, please! I like being able to feel my toes when I get to work and you just have not given me that pleasure for the past few months! Plus when it is nice out (or at least bearable) I don’t have to ride the D-Line, but I won’t go there.
I have never seen Lost…. but I’m tempted to buy the DVDs each time I go to Target that and Weeds for some reason they both call my name. I’m a bad shopper in the DVD section, I load up my cart with at least one DVD each time I go to the store… I need to stop grocery shopping at Target.
I bought the QAF DVD set off of Ebay last week for Jake and received it yesterday. It came from China! The name on the label said: Zhangjaikouwuzishangmao Youxiangongsi, can you imagine teaching this person how to spell their name? (I do not hate, I just think the long names in this culture are interesting! I wonder what his friends/family calls him Zhang?)
Have an AWESOME day everyone!

I am equally excited for the possibility of I love New York coming back to VH1.
Today is nacho day at hubble - better get yo spot in line!

Thanks for the info on Beyonce. I had never paid much attention to whether or not she was a lip syncer. Because, really, there are the people you KNOW aren’t singing EVER and you know that it is better that way. (Britney, I’m looking at you) But Beyonce actually has a voice. Although it doesn’t surprise me that she has in the past. I still am pretty confident she wasn’t at the Grammy’s. I still had it on DVR last night cause I had missed some stuff and I rewatched her after you said that to see what I missed. Besides the stuff I mentioned yesterday (Notes not exactly perfect, heavy breathing during the slower parts) I also noticed that if she WAS lip syncing, she did an AMAZING job of memorizing all 3,000 of the crazy vocal runs she did. She was matched up PERFECT!
I don’t think I could come up with a better name for your workout mix besides RANDOM. I mean, is there anyone else with a workout mix that incorporates Lion King AND Twisted Sister? Maybe…but more likely, maybe not!
Hey! You would appreciate this… I burnt some songs on a CD for a friend a while back and I even named it The CD of Awesomeness. (this was before this blog ever existed!) and I put a warning on the CD to be careful of the awesomeness. My favorite transition on that CD was from Ice Cube’s You Can Do It (Put Your Back Into It) to Celine Dion’s Titanic song. It also started with the (original) Beverly Hills 90210 theme song!
I will totally participate in the Lost conversation tomorrow as well! So excited!

Kurt, as I was traveling down your ipod list of songs that I never heard of before (87% of them), I smiled when I came across the likes of Slaughter and Twisted Sister. Those 2 songs couldn’t be more random in that list and I’ve never heard ANYONE putting them on any kind of list before (except for me). Well done (except for the 87%)! Also, I too look forward to the return of Lost tonight and I haven’t watched it in 4 years. Have to watch the last season for sure though I will feel cheated if Lost pulls a Favre and ends up airing a new season next year too…or the year after that..or the year after that etc.

I’m with Jenny, just rewatched Beyonce… vocals not good enough to be a recording. B would not allow errors in a lip-sync version of a song. Although I will say… what was with the guys? I was waiting for them to do more than look and snap occasionally.

I’m with Matthew, I don’t know most of the songs on your iPod! However, I am willing to challenge you on randomness!
I opened iTunes, hit shuffle, and this is what came up:
Battle Flag - Pigeonhed
Ice Fishing -Jeff Foxworthy (Blue Collar Comedy Tour)
ABC - Jackson 5
Some Enchanted Evening - Colm Wilkinson
The Dance - Garth Brooks
Movin’ Out - Billy Joel
I Go To Rio - Hugh Jackman (The Boy From Oz)
Livin’ on a Prayer - Bon Jovi
A Heart Full of Love - Les Mis
Cell Block Tango - Chicago
Voice Mail #4 - Rent (okay, my Broadway leanings are coming out here)
Darker Side - Jonny Lang
Christmastime is Here - Straight No Chaser
Initials - Hair
The Dirty Boogie -Brian Setzer Orchestra
Switch - Will Smith
Song on Neffertiti’s Radio (My Love) - Joshua Kadison
Lumberjack Song - Monty Python
Take a Chance on Me - ABBA
I Like The Way - Bodyrockers
Mercy - Duffy
Oceano - Josh Groban
We Cry - The Script
One day I had my iPod on shuffle, and I went from Garth Brooks to Marky Mark to Ethel Merman. My head almost exploded.
I would love to see a video of Susan Boyle doing Sexyback! LOL!
I am desperately hoping that Phil only counts for PA, and somewhere in Iowa is a clueless groundhog that didn’t see a darn thing this morning! I’m ready for Spring!
I only watched parts of the Grammy’s, but I thought Pink’s performance was amazing. How she could keep in tune while hanging upside down and spritzing water everywhere? Maybe she was lip-syncing?
