Best Horror Movies Ever, My Brett Favre Song, and Falling Back

From Kurt…

Happy Halloween AWESOMERS (that is what we shall be known as).

The Human Vampire -

Kirsten Dunst

Oh, Kirsten Dunst…what happened to you? I know that the vampire photo is just an “unfortunate” accident…but all the other photos of you lately have just been awful. You look like a strung-out junkie. Every photo has you holding a cigarette…wearing loose, unflattering clothes (clothes that look like you found in the garbage)…and you just don’t look like you’re taking care of yourself anymore.

Seriously though…you look like a vampire.

Favorite Scary Movies -

10. The Blob - The 1988 version. There are so many scenes from this movie that have stuck with me over the years…1) when they have a clog in their sink, and the guy reaches in to see what could be clogging it, and he gets pulled headfirst down the drain…and the pipe! 2) the sherriff who is trying to keep the Blob from coming through the window, only to be bent in half and dragged out through the window. Truly AWESOME ways to go. Oh, and Johnny Drama is in the movie.

9. Session 9 - You know it’s going to be scary when the plot deals with a cleaning crew sent to clean out an abandoned mental institution. I don’t know if I fully understood the ending…but the whole thing is creepy.

8. Nightmare on Elm Street - When Johnny Depp goes disappearing into the bed…and then it bursts out with 1000 gallons of blood…that was great. Freddy Kreuger’s glove…it should be in the Smithsonian. Note: Upon further investigation…a.k.a. Google…it appears that Freddy’s glove was at the Smithsonian for awhile.

7. Arachnaphobia - I HATE spiders…and this movie proved to me that I should continue to hate spiders. Spiders that can fly? No thank you. Great job by John Goodman in this movie though. Two scenes that I hate the most - 1) the spider in the football helmet, 2) and when the spider gets into Wilford Brimley’s slipper.

6. Hellraiser - Pinhead was a pscyho…and horrifying. The chains through skin thing always bothered me.

5. 28 Days Later/Shaun of the Dead - Two zombie movies had to make it on the list.

Fake #4. About Schmidt - When Kathy Bates disrobes…the Horror…the horror!

Real #4 -Saw - The first one was so messed up…and captivating. No way did I think they could make a series out of it though.

3. Halloween - Michael Myers…Halloween was scarier than any Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street…because, I don’t know, for some reason, this movie felt like it could happen.

2. Blair Witch Project - Terrifying. I don’t camp anymore…seriously, I don’t camp. I don’t care that the whole thing was staged…it worked on me. Side Story: At the Theta Chi Fraternity house at Drake, our bathroom was downstairs…and there was dark room you had to walk through to get to the bathroom (real safe…it had lights, but we didn’t think enough to actually put in new lightbulbs)…anyways…2 days after I saw this movie, my friend EJ is down in the room waiting for me, standing in the corner, facing the wall. That freaked me out…I didn’t shower that day.

1.  The Exorcist - I had never seen the movie until 1998. I was in London at the time, and they had just re-released the movie as part of the movie’s 20 year annivesary. I went with my friends Bill, Greg, and Marc…we went on Halloween night to the big theater down in Piccadilly Circus…when we left the theater, it was about 10pm…and everyone was starting to make their way to the pubs for the Halloween party. Let me tell you, the English go all out for Halloween..everywhere I looked there was some creepy guy in a costume…freaked us out a bit.Oh, my roommate in London was weird…just weird…he wore bow-ties everywhere…he was from South Carolina, and was like a refined redneck…anyway, for that whole night, I think I slept with one eye open, because I was sure he was possessed. I had to be ready to attack at a moment’s notice…right?

Honorable Mentions -

Scream - The first one was great. The “Scream” mask is still so disturbing to mem. It’s so simple too.

Hostel - Again, the first one was great…the 2nd was awful. The eye scene nearly made me vomit….I guess during initial reviews of the movie, some of the reviewers did vomit. That’s fantastic!

Paranormal Activity - I haven’t seen it yet…but from the preview alone, I’m giving it honorable mention.

The Descent - The movie takes a long while to get going…but it’s worth it. It’s about 4 women who go spelunking in an old cave…of course they get lost…and then they stumble upon these weird creatures. The night vision camera part is terrifying. Simply terrifying.

Also, Here’s Something Else Truly Terrifying -

It’s Heidi and Spencer dressed as Jon & Kate. Reality “stars” dressing up as reality “stars”…yep, that could possibly signal the end of the universe. It’s been fun folks!

Falling Back One Hour -

Thank you farmers! I need that one hour back more than you could ever know. The only downside is that it seems like football never gets started on Sunday afternoon…what do you mean it’s only 10:45? Football isn’t for another hour? Arrrggghh!!

 Keystone Light Commercial -

Chalk this up as another one of my favorite commercials…hilarious!

The League -

It’s a new show on FX that premiered last night (9:30). It’s all about the lives of men who live their life through their fantasy football league. It could not be more true. We do talk like that…we do act like that…we will try and cut deals with each other in order to gain draft picks/players. We’re idiots this way…but we’re passionate idiots. Only fantasy football can have me pacing around the house contemplating my choice this week of either starting Matthew Stafford or Marc Bulger at QB this week (Note: I have Tom Brady on a bye…and I’m going to go with Stafford).

It was even funnier than I thought it was going to be….oh, and Always Sunny in Philadelphia was AWESOME last night! Birds Of War!…and Rowdy Roddy Piper was Emmy-worthy!

Brett Favre -

Sunday afternoon…Favre returns to Green Bay. There may be fights in the stands between Packers fans…I will be booing him. Boo Brett…booooooo!! Note: Also due to the time change, that’s an additional hour of my wife and I being very wary of each other on Sunday…we like to have “fake drama” the days of Packers/Vikings games.

In case you missed it…here’s my Brett Favre song I made to the tune of “Monster Mash”.

Weekend -

Have a great Halloween weekend…if you have any fun photos from any Halloween parties. Send them to me (Producerkurt@star1025.com) I’ll put ‘em up.

Since Iowa kindly switched our seats…we will be at the game tomorrow morning. Let’s Go Hawks. 9-0 sounds nice doesn’t it? It sounds unbelievable…but it’s a reality folks!

I-O-W-A!

Oh, and my mood on Monday will be completely decided by the outcome of the Packers/Vikings game on Sunday, ha ha.

Have a great weekend!

AWESOME is as AWESOME does!

OK so I have been slacking recently with my music purchases but I finally bought Owl City two nights ago… Amazing. Thanks for the recommendation, it is AWESOME!

John and Kate, Speidi…. I never care to see or hear from or of these tragedies ever again. Complete waste of a good life. Speidi, grow up, you really are not that cool. John, put on your big boy pants and be a father. None of you are good looking, so stop pretending. Morons!

I actually threw something at my grandpa once (he told me to) it bounced off his hand and hit him in the forehead…totally his fault. Mom got real mad but grandma just laughed. The racking with the walker was the best.

My household can’t tolerate another lose after last week’s Nebraska tragedy. I can really care less who wins/loses, but if Jake is grumpy all day again, I will implement a new rule: If you are acting like a child after your team loses you have to sleep at your mom’s house. Think that will work?

    Have a great weekend!

  2. Big Ken, Colleen and Producer Kurt Says:

    Hey Nathan -
Glad you picked up “Owl City”…it’s cool music that makes you feel good. Optimistic music…that’s what I need for when Favre returns to Green Bay on Sunday.

That being said, I don’t think I can back you on the “sleeping at mom’s house” rule. I tend to get grumpy after a loss too…but only if it’s a big game…like if the Packers lose to the Vikings, I’ll be grumpy…but when the Packers lost to the Bengals, I was fine with it. They just beat us. If I was a Nebraska fan, I would be grumpy all the time…my team obviously sucks, ha ha! Take that Huskers! My best advice…tell Jake that if he promises not to be grumpy, he can have a treat…lately, Jennifer has been using this technique on me…and I’m really enjoying the Klondike bars. Reward me with junk food…that’s gotta be healthy right?

Speidi needs to disappear…I feel bad for even putting their picture on the Blog…but I had to do it in order to convey my disgust of them.

Have a great Halloween Nathan…send some fun pics if you’re at any parties this weekend!
    Kurt
