Top Vampire Movies Ever -
Continuing in the spirit of Halloween movies…here’s my list of “Best Vampire Movies”. Note: I’m not a big fan of vampire movies…
7 - Blade - Only the first one though. Wesley Snipes was cool back then…then after that it just got dumb.
6 - Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Kristy Swanson at her finest…the only downside of this movie…Luke Perry doesn’t die.
5 - Bram Stoker’s Dracula - Gary Oldman is fantastic…and there’s lots of boobs. In 1995, that’s all a movie needed for me. Well, it didn’t need Gary Oldman.
4 - The Lost Boys - A classic.
3 - I Am Legend - Will Smith is great in this movie. The vampires were weak though…and I always feel sad for the dog. Huge negative points for that part.
2 - Dracula: Dead and Loving It - A Dracula spoof starring Leslie Nielsen. He’s AWESOME. This movie is just downright funny. Actor Peter MacNicol (you’ll remember him from “24″, “Ghostbusters 2″, “Ally McBeal”) is absolutely brilliant in this movie. Brilliant!’
1 - From Dusk ‘Til Dawn - This has everything a vampire movie should have…crazy action scenes…lots of blood…no real plot (except to survive)…and you’ve got George Clooney,Quentin Tarantino, and Harvey Kitel fighting vampires…while Selma Hayek is stripping with a snake. It’s just a great movie in general.
Notable exceptions from this list…
Twilight - I haven’t seen it…I hear it’s popular, ha ha.
Underworld - For some reason, I haven’t seen this…and it stars Kate Beckinsale…why haven’t I seen this trilogy yet? Bad Kurt.
Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter - I saw this advertised. It’s a real movie…and from the title alone, it has to be great. Jesus is back…and in order to stay on Earth, he has to defeat vampires. Excellent.
Who Do You Tip?
Yesterday, we had the fine folks from Loziers out at our house for a furnace tune-up. Question…do you tip the Loziers guy? I never have, and I didn’t yesterday, and it didn’t look like he was expecting one at all…but I’m always curious about that. Do you tip the cable guy? I have before….do you tip the plumber? All sorts of questions.
New Songs Worth Checking Out -
1. Bad Romance - Lady Gaga - Imagine that, Lady Gaga putting out another catchy song. Shocking. My wife really likes her “Paparazzi” song (which has one of the most messed up videos I’ve ever seen by the way)…I don’t really care for that song…but this “Bad Romance” song is really good.
2. Constellations (live) - Jack Johnson - This is off his new live album…which is really good, but most importantly, Eddie Vedder is on this track…which instantly makes this song AWESOME!
Horrible, Yet Great Movie -
My wife and I went to the gym last night…and since there’s nothing we really like on Tuesday nights on TV, we decided to rent from Redbox…we wanted something scary…so we went with “My Bloody Valentine” (not the original, the remake that came out last year).
Ummm…first…not scary…but don’t expect me to hang out around any abandoned mines in the near future.
This movie was so bad…but it’s so bad, it’s good. The dialogue is incredibly cheesey…the ending didn’t really make sense…but the death scenes were fantastic. Nothing beats a good movie-thrashing than with a coalminer’s axe. Gruesome…gory…great.
You know what…if you’re looking for just a fun movie that’s heavy on the gore…and the ridiculous…give My Bloody Valentine a good look.
The NBA Started Last Night -
Snore…I play fantasy basketball just to stay fresh for fantasy baseball and football…but until the NBA Playoffs start (even then, the Bulls has to be part of it)…the entire basketball season is a gigantic snooze.
So, in honor of the NBA season starting…let’s not focus at all on basketball…and instead…check out this awesome performance by a basketball mascot…
Thanks Bobby Flay -
On Bobby Flay the other day…he was talking about making a special sauce for burgers…umm…it was pretty easy…a little mayo, some mustard, some ketchup…then mix. Done…tried it last night…it tasted like the sauce on the Whopper. Done and done…thanks Bobby Flay, now let’s work on getting you some sweaters that are a little looser…your manboobs keep nipping through them. (by the way a Google search for “Bobby Flay Manboobs” comes back with some disturbing stuff).

AWESOME is as AWESOME does!

Have to totally agree with you on Bloody Valentine… Horrible story, but very gory scenes. I will admit I jumped and screamed a few times.
I read the whole Twilight series, it’s not too bad. The book is better than the movie, but isn’t that usually the typical case? You should at least see the movie. Not sure if you can still Red Box it though.
If not let me know I buy almost every DVD/BluRay that comes out. My family uses me as their free redbox.
Love Lady GaGa! She is one of those people you either love or hate I have found. I guess I have a slightly biased opinion though since she does so much advocacy for the LGBT community. I bought her CD a year ago and have been itching since last winter for a new one. I’ll agree she is sometimes a bit too ‘out there’ but so was Madonna at times. Love the new song.
I struggle with knowing who to tip as well. I have narrowed it down to anyone that brings me anything at a restaurant or hotel, anyone I hand my car keys to/brings me my car, cab/limo drivers, baristas, bartenders, strippers and drag queens. Other than that I would hope your salary pays you well enough that you dont have to live off my dollar bills.
Mascot dance was awesome.
Mention of Bobby Flay’s Manboobs, not Awesome…. he was someone I never wanted to picture shirtless.
