Backstage With the Stars…and Gilles Stretches In Front of Us
From Kurt…
Backstage With the Stars -
Last night’s “Shawn Johnson & Friends” show at the Wells Fargo Arena was awesome. My wife and I ended up in the front row, and were able to snap some great photos. Take a look at them here… http://star1025.com/pages/4879253.php
We’ll start before the show backstage…Ken, Colleen, and I were there to do a little stage announcement (more on that in a moment)…my wife was able to come backstage with us as well. We get back there and we’re talking with Keith Murphy…and then the stars all start coming in and out of the Green Room area…Gilles just walks in, and my wife and Colleen’s jaws both dropped. He’s a handsome man, no doubt.
Then we saw Shawn, Mark, and Derek Hough. Then, Lacey Schwimmer walks into our area wearing some workout pants and her sports bra. Very nice! Apparently, dancing creates fantasic abs. Jennifer caught me looking, but I think I get a pass considering Derek and Mark apparently refuse to wear shirts backstage.
Then it was time for Ken, Colleen, and I to do our little stage announcement. We had a little something planned, but figured for sure it wouldn’t work…but it did. Ken&Coll waltzed out onto the stage…at which point, I cut in…but end up dancing with Ken…then Ken dips me, then drops me, and I go crashing to the floor. There was genuine laughter! We did it! We amused thousands and thousands! Whoo hoo! Not only that, but Ken was quite relieved I wasn’t hurt when he dropped me. Success!
After we got off stage, we were in the backstage area…and Gilles walks over right in front of Ken, Jennifer, and myself…and does this big long 10 second stretch right in front of my wife. I definitely caught my wife staring! Then, Gilles walks over to me and in his deep accent says jokingly “You want to go out there and dance for me?” I laughed and told him he might be better at it (plus, Cheryl would probably be a bit surprised)…then he said a few things in his deep accent…which I must admit, I didn’t quite understand (but that was due more to the fact that it was loud backstage). Then, who comes walking by? Steve-O. He’s awesome…he was such a nice guy. He shook all of our hands and was just a very nice guy. My wife and I were so ready to get a picture, but we decided that right before he goes on stage wasn’t the best time to be asking him.
Thank you Adam at the Wells Fargo Arena, for hooking Jennifer and I up with front row seats. They were awesome. Those dancers are crazy good. It was great show with a lot of crowd interaction…Derek and Cheryl both ran right in front of us a few times, and Herkey jumped on my wife. (Sorry for not snapping a picture darlin’…I was a bit shocked, ha ha!)
Women LOVE Gilles…wow, do they ever. Everytime he came out, it was like being at a Miley Cyrus concert…just non-stop screaming…except coming from adult women. Too funny.
It was a great night, a great show, and the packed house definitely were treated to a great performance by Shawn and all her friends.
Oh, did I happen to mention Lacey Schwimmer in her bra? I did? Oh…well, it warranted repeating.
Not a Line-Dancer -
We were up at a wedding in Storm Lake on Saturday night…(congrats to Tiffany and Zach by the way)…my wife enjoyed a few drinks, and then decided that the dance floor had been empty too long. I give my wife credit…she got 3 tables of people (in the early to mid 20s) out on the dance floor…I hung back at the table with my beer…I don’t know when it happened, but I look out on the floor, and everyone out there is doing some elaborate line dance…and my wife is just dancing by herself, doing her own “thang”. She is definitely not a line-dancer…another reason why I love her. It was just too funny seeing them all line-dancing, and she’s just rockin’ out right in front of them all.
Good breakfast -
My new favorite breakfast place? It’s gotta by Hy-Vee…their Tex-Mex Skillet is awesome…and I love their pancakes.
The Cubs -
How the heck did this under-achieving team get back to first place? I am stunned. Cardinals fans, you have to be ticked. You actually went and improved your team over the past months…yet, the Cubs have still passed you somehow. Love it.
Tomorrow, I will discuss whether or not I’m in my Wife’s “Top Ten”, ha ha….and a new, welcome addition to the family!
